Are You Using Today’s Tools To Meet The Needs of Today’s Real Estate Consumer?

Many of us are using "old" tools that worked once, but there are new tools, like text messages, that reach TODAY's consumer in a timelier fashion!

I’ll admit it: I had to have a 14 year old teach me to text message from my TREO SmartPhone a while back. Silly me, I thought you sent a text message to an email address. Gregory, the 14 year old, rolled his eyes but taught me how to send the text message anyway.  He was very tolerant, even though he did get in a bit of a dig: "Any you teach technology around the country, right?"

I’m a text messaging fanatic now….when the situation warrants it, such as to my grandson. As the following note from Allen F. Hainge CyberStar(r) Kathy Drewien of North Atlanta Realty Group, Atlanta, GA (www.AtlantaRelo.com) shows, it’s a valuable tool for reaching today’s consumer:

"Two of the girls that play on my tennis team are less than 25. Both of them immediately confirm my text messages; email goes unanswered by the 19 year old for days. The 25 year old answers email because she works and carries a Blackberry that gives the same immediacy.

Also, I have no hesitation in texting either of them at midnight."

CyberStar(r) Ira Serkes of RE/MAX Executive, Berkeley, CA (www.BerkeleyHomes.com) sent in another testimonial for text messaging:

"My wife Carol asked me how to text message.  I showed her how, and within 20 she responses from each niece!"

Remember: your prime home buying group is younger than
most REALTORS(r) are.  These younger consumers rely on different tools
than those used by many older agents.  Our job?  To learn these tools and
use them in our communications with consumers.

It’s a beautiful day here on the lake in Reston…hope it’s a beautiful day wherever you are, too!
