“Execution” In Your Real Estate Business…A Critical Force
The book, "Execution: The Discipline of Getting Things Done," a guide for building your real estate business
I am in the process of rethinking and retooling my business. As such, I’m searching for ideas and techniques that will help me accomplish those goals. I found a wealth of them in the book, "Execution: The Discipline of Getting Things Done," by Larry Bossidy and Ram Charan. I recommend that you get it and read it carefully. I know it will help anyone build their business.
Several of my CyberStars(r), notably CyberStars(r) Tim Kinzler of Boca Raton, FL, and CyberStar(r) Greg Gorman of Naples, Fl, have been providing me with great analysis and ideas for years. My problem: execution! If I had done everything that Tim and Gregg suggested, no problem!
As an example of the value of the book, I’ll point to the beginning of Chapter 3, "The Leader’s Seven Essential Behaviors." They are:
- Know your people and your business
- Insist on realism
- Set clear goals and priorities
- Follow through
- Reward the doers
- Expand people’s capabilities
- Know yourself
Numbers 2, 3 and 4 in particular jumped out at me as my immediate priorities, and that’s my starting point. I’ve already picked up some good direction from the authors’ discussions of those points. Now if I can only "execute"!
If your business, like mine, can be better than it presently is, I highly recommend you get the book.
It’s a beautiful day here on the lake in Reston…hope it’s a great day wherever you are, too!
